My First "Offical" Exhibition

Hey Guys! :)

The pressure is on, as I have so much to do, haha.

For me, this summer is going by super-fast! I took all of May and June off for a long break from drawing; instead, I took online classes on poetry and children's book writing. Now in July, it’s my last chance to get in the game before classes start again.

If you have just come to my blog, I’m currently wrapping up my time in the SVA’s Illustration Residency Program. It’s been a wild ride. I had sworn that I had never dreamed of celebrating my 21st birthday in a big city – my mom found me this opportunity to come to New York and do what I'm passionate about: art! I still have to pinch myself that I made it here.

As a country girl, I've found the city both charming and challenging. I've gone through a series of adjustments. I’m still not sure if I love city life more than country living, but it’s been quite an experience. :”) I can’t believe we’re approaching the finishing line next week, and I'm so excited to announce the following exhibition.

We will have an Open Studio exhibition on August 5th, where we will display our work. :) It will be in Exhibition Hall 141 at 133 West 21st Street, New York City, from 5:00-8:00 pm. It’s a one-night-only event, and I would love to invite you all to come if you’re in the area! :)

I have also prepared some surprises to interact with all participants. Perhaps if I have time, I'll share some sneak peeks.

This SVA program has definitely taught me so much more about art as a language and pushed me further to find my own artistic voice. Once all winds down, I’ll be sure to share my highlights as well as the challenges. For subscribers only, I’ll also share the most relevant notes I took from the program.
