Faith - Digital (Procreate)
This design illustrates my art journey. The leaves show God holding me whenever I doubt my art skills and want to give up. Green brings life and new hope. The vines with blossoming flowers represent hope sparking out of darkness. The pink buds jumping out of the leaves and landing on the bright yellow indicate victory and joy after overcoming difficulties. The letter “I” in the center shows that our inner strength is the motivator that propels us throughout our journey.
Pretty - Digital (Procreate)
I’ve been drawn to the intricate designs of Art Nouveau since high school. To bring the beauty of nature back into fashion, I’m inspired by Art Nouveau and plan to incorporate more design into my illustrations!
Hope (SOLD) - Gouache, 16*16
Hope was created when I was depressed during a rough time at school. I was incredibly burnt out. Yet, God was still working with me. So, I got this inspiration to paint the purple leaves to symbolize God’s royalty and His presence in my life. The small flower buds show faith as small as a mustard seed, as described in the Bible. The big blooming flowers symbolize the transition from little hope to faith that could move mountains.

Wisteria Wedding - Gouache, 16*16
This is a wedding gift for a pastor’s daughter. The leaves form four hearts; inside each heart, two magenta pom poms are bonded together. I painted golden stripes on the leaves to symbolize God's Kingship and protection over marriage, showing that what God brings together no man can separate.
Each pair of pom pom flowers is then tied together with golden branches, forming another smaller heart with one wisteria flower as the knot. In Korea, the wisteria flower symbolizes devotion that transcends death. This illustrates that a successful marriage requires commitment and hard work from both parties, and each party needs to be equally yoked.
The thorns in between the pom poms emphasize the vulnerability of love. The wisteria has two main meanings: love and spiritual growth, so the steadfast love and fruits of marriage will be passed from generation to generation.
The four pairs of intertwining doves emphasize the duty of the man and woman in a marriage. The husband, represented by the blue dove, must be the protector and provider of the family. The wife, represented by the pink dove behind the blue dove, must be the helper and submit to the husband. However, they overlap, indicating that they are bound together; no one can live without the other. Doves are chosen to represent the couple because the Holy Spirit (who appeared as doves in the Bible) dwells in us.
The orange background shows sunrise/sunset, resembling the marriage vow, till death do us part. The yellow curls remind us to be faithful even when it’s hard, and the buds show the beauty and joy as marriage endures and love never fails.
Soaring Together - Gouache, 16*16
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Whether it’s teacher and student, husband and wife, or God and man, when we soar together – we better the world.

The Duckling That Persevered - Color Pencil with Acrylic Wash, 9*13
An ode to Christian Hans Anderson. I love reading his fairy tales, specifically his book, The Ugly Duckling. I found that this story resembles his life because he had overcome many rejections before he became famous.

Three best friends in the fruit world! The orange looks over his other two friends. The banana hugs and embraces the strawberry while leaning towards his friend, the orange. The strawberry is happy and secure with the two friends protecting her.
